You'll Never Draw a 'Blanc' When It Comes to Mel Again!

In the world of twentieth century entertainment, there are few figures who had more of a positive effect on media as a whole than Mel Blanc. Whether he was on the radio, on camera, or providing the vocals for one of his animated characters, no one steals the show like Blanc. He was a virtuoso showman who has, thus far, had no counterpart in _this_ century.
Ben Ohmart's book gives readers the chance to really look at what made the man of a thousand voices tick. While it does skirt over any controversies, it does, at least, aim to squash a few of Blanc's bogus claims behind creating various Warner Bros. cartoon characters (which are still repeated as fact to this day). Ohmart's book also has the ring of authenticity not only due to his own wealth of knowledge, but because he incorporated much of Noel Blanc's unpublished book into his own text. The words and research of Blanc biographer Walt Mitchell and Keith Scott (who has no equal when it comes to expertise on animation voice talent) also give this tome an edge over previous Blanc screeds. Indeed, most of this book is devoted to the most in-depth (and accurate) filmography and discography of Blanc's work in existence.
The print edition may be a bit pricey given the mountainous size of the indexing of Blanc's career, but with the Kindle so cheap, you have no excuse to not get it. Heartily recommended for radio, TV, and cartoon fans!

Definitive Book About Mel Blanc

If I made a list of ten obscure things Mel Blanc did during his career, this book includes all ten of them. Extremely detailed and comprehensive. Noel Blanc, Mel's son, wrote a book about his father but it was never published. Ben Ohmart managed to work out an arrangement with Noel and reprinted most of the material from that unpublished book, loaded with interviews with people who worked with Blanc, unpublished interviews with Blanc and a list of his entire audio and film career that boggles my mind. Took me two weeks to read the biography and the behind-the-scenes stories are great. Mr. Ohmart even took time to debunk a number of myths that circulate on Wikipedia.
Buy this book today and treat yourself to the man of a thousand voices.

Mel Voiceman Funnyman and Singer Blanc

As the voice of Bugs Bunny Daffy Duck Porky Pig Yosemite Sam The Roadrunner Marvin the Martian Tweety and Sylester and later Elmer Fudd not to mention Woody Woodpecker-especially the laugh- and on the Flintstones Dino and Barney Rubble -not to mention other stuff I cant name off for one reason or another Mel Blanc has richly become the man of 1000 voices as his nickname goes and hes richly deserved it. He also sang songs and while some of them were with his cartoon voices others were with other made up voices and occoinally he sang with his real voice. This is his biography and its an iteresting read especially since it covers his career as well as his life. You should get it.
