Good story and great ending with lots of unexpected surprises. Not your usual psychological thriller and yet quite believable.

As soon as you think you have figured it all out, you will be surprised to know you haven't this book was amazing and made me want to keep reading it. If you have the chance. Read this book.

Never saw this one coming

Here again another D.M. Mitchell story that plays with your head throughout the entire story. Just when you think you have it figured out, who did what and who is responsible from that, he goes and throws some other twists in and confuses the game.

Rick Remender is the writer/creator of comics such as Fear Agent, The End League, Strange Girl, Black Heart Billy, Last Days of American Crime, Sea of Red, Sorrow, Night Mary, XXXombies and Doll and Creature. He is also the writer of Marvel's X-Force, Punisher and Doctor Voodoo.
Outside of comics he has served as a writer on the Electronic Arts hit game Dead Space and is currently lead writer on EA/EPIC/PCF's Bulletstorm game. Prior to this, Remender served as an animator on films such as The Iron Giant, Anastasia, Titan A.E., and Rocky and Bullwinkle.

A great collection for one of the best comics on the market

Uncanny X-force is probably the best Marvel Series of the Moment, and this collection regroups the first part of the Dark Angel Saga the last Arc of Uncanny X-Force's 18 Issues first Season. This Comic has it all action, high emotional moments between the main characters. "Spoilers" Plus a surprise Visit to the Age of Apocalypse". The art is gorgeous after reading this all you want is getting the next collection. Rick Remender is one of the best writers if not the best at Marvel all his stories are full with impact and he is writing three of the best series so far at Marvel ( X-force, Venom and in Jan 2012 Secret Avengers). Get this collection and if you did not get the first two UXF collections Apocalypse Solution and Deathlok Nation by all means get them since the first 18 Issues form one Mega Arc that will finish in Issue 18 ( Dec 14) and the Next Collection coming out in February.

The Dark Angel Saga Is Off To Fantastic Start

Wolverine's clandestine X-Force has faced Apocalypse, the Reavers, and the Deathloks. Now they face an even graver threat from within. Something sinister is stirring in Archangel. His fractured personality is endangering the team's operations. Things don't get better when the Shadow King returns, bent on revenge. Then Magneto calls in an old favor, which Logan has no choice but to fulfill. Then the Dark Angel Saga begins, with the X-Force traveling to the Age of Apocalypse reality.
This is a truly entertaining collection. *SPOILERS* The idea of Warren/Archangel becoming the next Apocalypse is genius. The return to the 295(AoA) reality was interesting. For those who read the Age of Apocalypse this is a real treat. *END SPOILERS*
The art by Billy Tan isn't as great as Jerome Opena or Esad Ribic, but it is pretty good. Remender delivers a compelling and innovative story. His dialogue and character development continues, better than before. Overall this is a great addition to the Uncanny X-Force series. Buy it. 4.5/5.

The best Marvel series

Uncanny X-Force is without a doubt, the best thing Marvel has going. This whole collection, just leaves you wanting to read more and more. As a long time Marvel reader, from Amazing Spider-Man, to uncanny X-Men and Avengers, this dark angel saga has been the best.

Rick Remender is the best writer Marvel has, and he showcases his work. The dynamic relationship and emotion that is built up between the characters, in this trade is fabulous, you feel the tension and the moment in every panel. Being in the Age of Apocalypse, is also a nice turn, as you see "old friends" in a new light.

The art in this trade, is fabulous, especially the last three issues, I love the way they draw Betsy (Psylocke) in these last few issues.

Overall, if you read Marvel comics, and like the X-Force ones, this is a must buy. Hands down the best Marvel comics going.

“Originally published in Milwaukee in 1897, Hughes’s book is a rare autobiography of a black Milwaukeean. His story, however, does not begin in Wisconsin. Most of the book narrates the story of Hughes’s life as a slave. He recounts the emotional pain of being sold away from his mother at about the age of eleven, astutely observes the interactions between slaves and masters, and graphically tells of the physical brutality heaped on him and his fellow slaves. Historians have mined his memoir for what it tells about plantation life, the organization of work, and the interactions between slaves. What has been explored less often, and which appears below, is his account of his free life in Milwaukee.” -Michael Stevens, “After Slavery: The Milwaukee Years of Louis B. Hughes” Louis Hughes was born a slave in Virginia and at age 12 was sold away from his mother, whom he never saw again. After a few interim owners, he was sold to a wealthy slave owner who had a home near Memphis and plantation nearby in Mississippi. Hughes lived there as a house servant until near the end of the Civil War, when he escaped to the Union lines and then, in a daring adventure with the paid help of two Union soldiers, returned to the plantation for his wife. The couple made their way to Canada and after the war to Chicago and Detroit, eventually settling in Milwaukee. There Hughes became relatively comfortable as a hotel attendant and as an entrepreneur laundry operator.

A story of suffering and triumph none should miss.

An amazingly well-written book by a self-educated former slave. The story of his sufferings and eventual triumph and success is both an amazing first hand account of slavery and a testimony to one man's faith, intellect, undying determination and loyalty to family.

If you are interested in what life was like for slaves and masters you will like this book. The writer did a great job of describing what a day was like as a slave. I would have liked a bit more detail about some of the jobs that were necessary to the running of a plantation

About the Author
Margaret Furtado, M.S., R.D., L.D.N., R.Y.T., is a licensed dietitian/nutritionist with over 20 years of clinical experience. She is currently part of the multidisciplinary team at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, where she counsels patients before and after weight loss surgery. She has also worked in medical and surgical weight loss at the Weight and Wellness Center at Tufts Medical Center, as well as the Weight Center at Massachusetts General Hospital. Margaret earned her Master's degree in nutrition and dietetics at Florida International University in Miami and speaks internationally on weight loss surgery and nutrition.

Joseph Ewing is a graduate of Johnson and Wales University, with a BS in culinary nutrition and an associate of science degree in culinary arts. He was awarded first place in the State of Maryland SkillsUSA Culinary Arts Competition and third place in Talbot County, Maryland, and was published in the Star Democrat for his accomplishments. Joseph is currently working in Rhode Island as a sous chef for the Pinelli Marra Restaurant Group.

Great WLS Resource

I got my copy of The Complete Idiot's Guide to Eating well after WLS. It is a great resource for anyone who has had WLS or is contemplating WLS. It gives insight to all WLS options and the special nutritional guidelines that each procedure needs. It includes many great ideas and recipes for both WLS patients and those just wanting to eat healthier. This book included many support group websites and blogs. I would recommend this book to any new WLS patient or anyone considering WLS.

Excellent resource for Weight Loss Surgery at any stage

I was waiting for The Complete Idiot's Guide to Eating Well After WLS to be released with great anticipation. I have read Ms. Furtado's previous book and many articles she has written so I was anxious to read this book. This book exceeded my expectations. It is an excellent book. It is a superb resource for anyone considering weight loss surgery, support persons, pre-ops and post-ops alike. There is information for anyone at any stage of the weight loss surgery process. I am a post-op since 2001 and I find it invaluable personally and professionally. I conduct weight loss surgery trainings in my job and the information Ms. Furtado shares in her book is very complete.

I recommend this book highly.
